Challenge:
For the first time, in 2009 the USTA launched live online streaming of the US Open Tennis Championships. Over 215 hours of live streaming was featured on usopen.org, cbssports.com and espn.com. The USTA enlisted Amplify’s support to secure a corporate partner to support this innovative online initiative.

Solution:
Conducting extensive research of prospective brands, Amplify recognized Westin Hotel and Resorts was seeking a way to reach a targeted demographic and promote special offers via online messaging. The agency contacted and negotiated a partnership between both parties.

Results:
The USTA delivered an overwhelming number of impressions to Westin, with nearly 14 million consumers activating over 2.5 million hours of live streams — including 157 matches—on USOpen.org., with an average length of viewership of two hours and 45 minutes.

The results were so impressive that during the US Open Westin increased its investment and web presence halfway through the tournament.
